Pupil Premium

The Pupil Premium is additional funding provided by the Government to help schools reduce inequalities and support pupils who may face disadvantage. It is designed to ensure that all children—regardless of their background—have the opportunity to achieve highly and thrive.

Schools receive Pupil Premium funding for children who:

  • are currently eligible for Free School Meals (FSM)
  • have been eligible for FSM at any point in the last six years
  • are looked after, have been adopted from care, or have left care under a special guardianship, residence, or child arrangement order
  • have a parent serving in the armed forces

This funding enables schools to provide targeted support so that all pupils can meet or exceed national expectations. Each school chooses how best to use the funding to meet the needs of its pupils and is held accountable for the impact of this spending.

At Nancledra School, we understand that families may worry about the stigma sometimes associated with financial support. Please be assured that all matters relating to Free School Meals and Pupil Premium are handled with complete confidentiality. Our aim is simple: to ensure every child reaches their full potential. We work closely with families and staff to maintain high aspirations for every pupil.

We recognise that barriers to learning can take many forms. Our approach is to provide whatever support is needed—both in and beyond the classroom—to ensure every child has equal access to enriching, empowering learning experiences.
