Our aims

At Nancledra School, we aim to inspire every child to become a lifelong learner. Our curriculum equips pupils with the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values they need to thrive in the 21st century. Through our SPARK curriculum, we nurture curiosity, a strong sense of place and belonging, and a thirst for learning that lasts a lifetime.

SPARK stands for:

Stories

Stories are at the heart of learning. They help us make sense of the world, which is why our curriculum is rich with them—through reading, writing, and across subjects. From discovering the lives of great artists to learning about scientists who changed the world, stories bring learning to life.

People

To form our own ideas, we need to know the best that has been thought and said—past and present. Our children encounter inspiring figures from diverse backgrounds, whether meeting Helen Keller when exploring the senses, listening to Stevie Wonder, considering Boudicca’s leadership, or critiquing Barbara Hepworth’s sculptures.

Adventure

Childhood should be full of adventure. Adventures build resilience, spark curiosity, and create lasting memories. From exploring new places and technologies to thriving in our Wild Passport Forest School, every year group enjoys opportunities to discover and grow.

Relationships

Strong, meaningful relationships underpin everything we do. Guided with compassion and expertise, our children expand their horizons and achieve more than they ever imagined.

Knowledge

Powerful knowledge is the foundation for thinking, wondering, and dreaming. We preserve the integrity of each subject while making purposeful cross-curricular connections. This ensures children gain the knowledge, skills, and cultural capital they need to become well-educated citizens of the future.

When pupils leave Nancledra, they take with them a SPARK—a love of learning and the confidence to shape their own lives and positively influence the world around them.
